I'm currently running a 2010, 5.1 Pro tower. Having a few processing and speed issues that I'm trying to resolve. ![]() Pretty sure it's a graphics card issue (but very well could be wrong). Issues are mainly noticed while running Photoshop and saving as well as when I'm running Capture One Pro (thumbnail refresh, group moves, etc). System really seems to bog it's self down and slow to a crawl. Currently have Samsung 500gb SSD as boot and 24GB of RAM installed. Current Graphics card is stock, ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1gb vram. Processor is 2.8 Quad core. No other mods aside from PCI cards and additional HD's installed. When searching for newer Graphics cards I was told that the bus speed would be a limitation and installing a newer graphics cars won't really help.? Buy adobe acrobat standard vs pro for mac. Not sure if that's the case??? Any other suggestions for speeding this up as I'm not really wanting to invest in a new system just yet. My question is fairly simple. Even though Maya seems to be the big argument between all Graphics Cards. I dabble very little in it. I mainly use boot camp for autocad, Hydracad, and Revit. Things are going towards 3D BIM for work. Yes I do some gaming on both windows and Mac platforms. Aside from work I use abobe Lightroom, Photoshop and the works on the Mac side. Along with Pro Tools for my other job. I'm confused which card is the best for me. To my knowledge none are virtual reality ready.? Correct me if I'm wrong there. (Since these are cards that are flashed Mac and with little issues) So it leaves me with, since things are going towards 3D, does this mean the gtx 980ti should be my jam? Or due to the larger file sizes of 3D BiM modeling will the 12 Gb DDR5 of the Titan x really be what I need over the 6 in the gtx? I know benchmarks can show things both ways depending on programs. But I would like the best card for all I do. I feel due to the expansive use list the quadros just won't fit the bill. The cost is of no concern. I currently have 2.8 ghz quad core 16Gb ram that is being upgraded at the same time as the video card to 64Gb ram now. Already have 1Tb SSD Samsung pros. And soon after I plan to update the tray to a 12 core 3.46GHz westmere setup with full 128Gb ram. Yes I do most work in wireframe 2D with little in 3D but it seems to be changing and I want to be future proof as best as I can. What do you guys think?
